  Established in 1978, Thai Carbon Black is the leading manufacturer of Carbon Black in Thailand. Starting off with technical know-how from Phillips Petroleum, USA, the company has been developing technology of its own since 1983 after Phillips Petroleum ceased their operation in Carbon Black business.

Listed among the world's best 200 small companies by Forbes magazine in the year 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006, Thai Carbon is the first company in Thailand to achieve the five accreditations: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO/TS 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025. The company has won the prestigious Deming Prize for TQM and the TPM Excellence Award from JIPM, Japan in 2001. In 2003 and 2005, TCB won the TPM Consistency Award and TPM Special Award from JIPM, Japan. TCB was awarded the 5th Best Employer in Asia and the Best Employer in Thailand in 2003. It has also won the Thailand Prime Minister's Award for Safety and Labour Relations in 2003 and 2004 as well as best welfare management award for three consecutive years 2003, 2004 and 2005. Thai Carbon follows all environmental regulations and is one of the lowest cost producers of Carbon Black.

Thai Carbon represents the Aditya Birla Group's first joint venture between Indian and Thai investors. Marketed under the brand name Birla Carbon, the company produces up to 210,000 tonnes per year of world-class furnace grade Carbon Black at its sophisticated manufacturing plant located in the Angthong province of Thailand. Thai Carbon has the capability to customise Carbon Black grades as per clients' requirements.

To cope with the increasing demand of Carbon Black in both domestic and overseas markets, Thai Carbon has aggressive growth plans, including Brownfield and Greenfield expansions in S.E. Asia to augment additional capacity of over 100,000 mtpa over the next three to five years.

With the world's top three tyre manufacturers in its list of customers, namely, Bridgestone, Michelin and Goodyear, Thai Carbon has the unique distinction of supplying Carbon Black to all the six continents from a single location. Other than supplying to the local Thai market, the company supplies to countries like Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, China, Korea, Taiwan, and Australia. More than 50 per cent of Japan's total Carbon Black import is from TCB alone.
