Birla Carbon Egypt organizes Eye Care Health Check-ups for 3,000+ children of nearby schools
On May 12, 2026, Birla Carbon Egypt (BCE) organized eye care medical convoys across three schools located in villages surrounding the unit. This initiative aimed to promote the children’s visual well-being; support early detection and correction of eyesight issues; reduce the risk of long-term vision impairment; and enhance learning engagement and their overall quality of life.
The convoys successfully examined 3,072 students, representing approximately 92% of the total student population in the area. Among them, 304 students across various grade levels were identified with vision deficiencies – many of whom were either previously unaware of their condition or were unable to afford corrective eyewear. BCE provided eyeglasses to all students in need and the unit’s employees personally distributed the eyeglasses to the children at their schools, in the presence of school principals and staff, thus creating a memorable experience for everyone.
Sharing her thoughts on this occasion, the General Manager, Birla Carbon Egypt said, “It was truly heartwarming to see the children’s joy when they received their glasses. Through this initiative, we also discovered that many students had not recognized their eyesight challenges or expressed any concerns. This is our small contribution towards improving their quality of life at a very young age and we look forward to more such opportunities.”
The initiative met with widespread appreciation, with the school staff, students, and parents, expressing sincere gratitude for BCE’s meaningful contributions.
