President, Asia

Amit Kumar is President, Asia, Birla Carbon, and is based at the Company’s corporate office in Mumbai, India. In this role, Amit is responsible for all aspects of the business in the Asia, which includes manufacturing, sales and related functions for the Rubber business portfolio.

Amit joined the Aditya Birla Group in 2018 as President, Chief Supply Chain & Digital Officer for the Chemicals, Insulators & Fashion Yarn business.

Prior to this, Amit held senior global leadership positions of increasing responsibility in Manufacturing, Programs transfers, Global Procurement, Supply Chain and Projects at General Electric (GE) as corporate officer and Global Vice President, Manufacturing & Supply Chain – Asia. Amit was also instrumental in creating GE’s first Multi-modal Multi-business green-field Brilliant Factory. Amit also worked with Honeywell India, and Timken as Country Head, Global Sourcing, Operations & Supply Chain.

He has three decades of experience, including manufacturing, project transfer, greenfield plants, sourcing, EHS, Global Sales, government affairs, talent, and supply chain. Amit has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Karnataka University, India, and has completed multiple Executive Development and Management courses.

His professional recognitions include; the best functional global leader in Manufacturing & P&L Growth by GE Energy Global CEO (2015), and being awarded the top Performance & Cultural Transformation leader by GE Global Board and GE Chairman (2016).
