President, Americas & EMEA

John Davidson is the President, Americas & EMEA, Birla Carbon. In this role, John is responsible for all aspects of the business in the Americas, and Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, which includes manufacturing, sales, and key functional support for the Rubber business portfolio.

John joined Birla Carbon in February 2018 as President of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, Birla Carbon, and assumed the role of Chief Sales, Marketing & Officer in 2020. He took on the additional responsibility of Sustainability in early 2025.

John has a proven track record of business and people leadership in his 37 years of career experience spanning sales, marketing, procurement, operations, and full business unit management. John joined Birla Carbon from Lanxess, formerly of Chemtura, in their Bromine & Derivatives business.

Prior to senior management positions at Lanxess and Chemtura, John spent almost 20 years at The Dow Chemical Company in specialty and commodity chemicals, both in the United States and Europe. He held various leadership roles, including Global Commercial Director, Industrial Solutions Enterprise; Global Business Director, Amines and Chelants; Global Marketing Director, Polyglycols, Surfactants, Fluids and Oxygenated Solvents; and Global Asset Director, Specialty Alkoxylation assets, Polyglycols, Surfactants and Fluids.

Prior to Dow, John spent seven years in various customer-facing positions in Nalco Exxon Energy Chemicals Ltd where he began his career in 1989.

John holds a bachelor’s degree in science (Honors), Microbiology and Genetics from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
