Birla Carbon Spain continues its commitment towards sustainable education with collaboration with local schools

Birla Carbon Spain continues its commitment towards sustainable education with collaboration with local schools On March 19, 2025, Birla Carbon Spain (BCS) celebrated a special milestone on the path towards sustainable education. The Marina de Cudeyo Primary School (to which BCS has constantly been supporting) was recognized as one of the 10 most sustainable schools in Spain at the 2024 Sustainable School Awards. The school was selected from among 260 others, and was accepted by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, and Sports.

Speaking about this recognition and BCS’ collaboration with the local schools, the Unit Head of Birla Carbon Spain said, “Our collaboration with the school and the local community demonstrates our shared commitment to fostering environmental awareness and sustainable development. By supporting these initiatives, we are not only investing in a greener future but also in the education and well-being of future generations. This recognition is a reflection of how we live our purpose and Share the Strength within the communities in which we operate.”

BCS and the Marina de Cudeyo Council collaborated with CEIP Marina de Cudeyo through the ‘Transforming Futures’ initiative that focuses on promoting sustainability and environmental education at the school. Some of the activities include:

  1. Recycling and sustainability projects: BCS supports the school in implementing projects that encourage recycling and sustainability (e.g. creating sculptures from recycled materials).
  2. Support for the educational community: BCS participates in the training and education of teachers and students on sustainability and environment.
  3. Joint events and activities: BCS and CEIP Marina de Cudeyo organize events and activities that promote environmental awareness and community involvement.

This collaboration is part of BCS’ commitment to sustainable development and education in the Marina de Cudeyo community. At the awards ceremony in Madrid, BCS accompanied the Marina de Cudeyo Primary School and the Marina de Cudeyo City Council, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and the development of the local community. BCS’ Human Resources Manager, Javier Tazón, represented the unit at this event.

The HR Manager of Birla Carbon Spain said, “At Birla Carbon Spain, we believe that sustainable education is key to the future of our communities, and we are proud to support initiatives that promote these values. These actions not only promote a more environmentally friendly environment but also contribute to a more sustainable future for everyone. This recognition is a testament to the effort and vision of Marina de Cudeyo Primary School.”

The recognition not only acknowledges the school’s efforts but also reinforces the importance of collaboration between companies, institutions, and the community, to build a more sustainable future. Overall, BCS and Birla Carbon believe that our commitment towards a greener and cleaner environment goes beyond our own actions. It is also a commitment to the future generations and their education towards the sustainable development of the nearby communities.
