During the month of July and August 2025, Birla Carbon Weifang (BCW) held various CSR initiatives for the Weifang Binhai Experimental Primary School, located close to the unit. The students and teachers of the school took part in various programs to enhance and safeguard their safety, health and well-being at work.

Ensuring the health & safety of teachers and students

Birla Carbon Weifang (BCW) successfully concluded its 2025 ‘Safety Escort, Health Companion’ CSR initiative at Weifang Binhai Experimental Primary School, located adjacent to the unit. The event was implemented in two phases, with a focus on enhancing the students’ summer vacation safety awareness, improving access to clean drinking water, and strengthening the teachers’ emergency response capabilities, thereby fulfilling BCW’s social responsibility through concrete actions.

Strengthening summer safety awareness

The BCW employees delivered an engaging and informative summer safety training session to 1,900 students at the school. The curriculum encompassed drowning prevention, traffic safety, home safety, cybersecurity, and emergency self-protection highlights. Through case studies, interactive Q&A sessions, scenario-based simulations, and the distribution of safety-themed handheld fans, the session effectively reinforced safety awareness among the students, with the objective of enabling them to enjoy a secure, joyful, and meaningful summer vacation.

Upgrading the drinking water facilities to promote health and well-being

To address the need for safe drinking water, BCW procured and installed a new high-efficiency filtration unit that is energy-efficient, along with a safe drinking water dispenser, thus replacing the outdated older ones. This upgrade now ensures that everyone has continuous access to clean and healthy drinking water.

Enhancing Faculty Emergency Response Capabilities

The team also conducted a specialized training session for around 90 teachers at the school. The session covered fire safety, first aid techniques, and the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Topics included fire prevention and initial firefighting measures, along with the correct operation of a fire extinguisher, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures, and AED usage protocols. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practice, the training significantly improved the faculty’s confidence and ability to manage security and medical emergencies.

Principal Wang of Weifang Binhai Experimental Primary School expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to BCW for its charitable efforts. She emphasized that these initiatives provided tangible support and also instilled valuable safety awareness and practical life-saving skills, reflecting Birla Carbon’s strong commitment to education and sense of responsibility towards the future of society.
