Birla Carbon Italy awards students for demonstrating innovative soft skills in the ‘Smart Challenge’ project
On April 7, 2022, Birla Carbon Italy (Trecate Plant) collaborated with ITI Omar – a local technical high school where students from the mechanical and chemical fields graduate. Annalisa Malcangi, HR Manager, and Cristina Cravini (in the picture), Process Engineer, Birla Carbon Italy, addressed 60 students in the 4th grade and their professors. Annalisa gave a detailed presentation about Birla Carbon, and Cristina held a chemical lesson on carbon black. Speaking about this initiative, Giuseppe Zanotti, Unit Head, Birla Carbon Italy, said, “We highly value the partnership with this school as we recently hired students who graduated from here and hosted internships too. This is our way of giving back to the communities in which we operate.” He further added, “The students will become future employees of our business, and we hope to continue engaging with many more of such academic institutions and Share the Strength.” In the past, BCI conducted a virtual tour for the students in December 2021. This time around, they wanted to get closer to the students; hence, Annalisa and Cristina took these sessions in person at the school. Birla Carbon focuses on strengthening the partnership with local schools as a means to provide employment opportunities to students who are close to completing their secondary education.
