FY2023 report highlights
- Birla Carbon is refinancing existing debts through a $750 million loan linked to our sustainability performance.
- We worked with partners in 2022 to develop sustainable sources of graphite for use in lithium-ion batteries, or Biocrude Derived Anode Material (BDAM), helping address increased product electrification.
- 72% waste repurposed, including recycling, reuse and recovery.
- Our Innovation Ambassador Network (IAN) consists of 23 global members who work tirelessly to make Birla Carbon an innovative company for the future.
- Birla Carbon remains the only carbon black multinational to receive IATF certification across all its manufacturing sites.
- Received ISCC+ certification for our plant in Italy
- We have been awarded a Gold Rating by EcoVadis.
- All our 13,000+ suppliers were screened using NAVEX Global’s RiskRate® due diligence system.
- 4% of profit re-invested into R&D in FY2023.
